The More You Let Go, The More Powerful You Become: How the Top 1% Think — The Phil Jackson Paradox

This episode dissects the claim that leadership is about how you think, not what you do, using the contrast between Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan. Jackson realized that the more he exerted power directly the less powerful he became, and led indirectly to eleven titles, while Jordan, the greatest player, could never coach because he could not let go of control. A founder recounts feeling nothing but exhaustion the day her company hit fifty million, and through a mentor's line — 'if it's your business, it's your fault' — recognizes she had been playing star player like Jordan. The teardown moves through psychological safety, the iceberg illusion of understanding your boss, and the triangle-offense philosophy of delegating decisions rather than tasks, closing with concrete practices: tracking your time, redefining your KPIs, and scheduling your own absence.
